I solved it. It's really stupid. Every time I use my data connection, I have to go to Firefox's menu bar and unclick offline. For some reason, it just clicks itself.

Do you think it's possible, I have a firewall trying to block out the connection? Any help would be appreciate, and thanks again.

I'm using tmobile as well, and I have both an IP and a DNS address. Actually, I get a local and remote IP and a primary and secondary DNS. Other than that one file you mentioned above, was there anything else you needed to change on your system?

Thanks, btw, I really appreciate your two pages on this matter.

@Joyce:

Depends on which cell phone provider you're using. I've only tried T-Mobile's service, and it's been a long time since I've used it. However, I can say that when I was connected, I would be shown local and gateway IP addresses. Are you being assigned IP addresses by your provider?

My terminal shows I am connected, but no internet ... any reason why terminal would say I am connected, but I'm really not? Is there an additional step you didn't list that I should have known was something very basic? Thanks.
